Speaking from Stillness is a fun series transcribing unscripted thoughts while on morning dog walks in my jungle valley. I walk in stillness, then allow whatever arises to get recorded and transcribed. I try to keep them short. The transcript is lightly edited for clarity.
The concept of being an empty vessel, one that is open to any possibilities, one that has banished most of the Ego-filters and attachments, and can diminish the rest as needed.
The one who has surrendered to this moment, and has no attachment to any outcome, that is one who can truly play the role, play the role fully and completely, do what is required by nature and the circumstances in any moment, without fear of an outcome, or without a favourite outcome occurring.
It’s just acting. The Genuine Pretender, the one who is genuinely throwing themselves into playing a role at a time.
But the actions that happen are not filtered through, ‘I would prefer this…I don’t like that…I want this for me…Ooh, that’s scary, I don’t want to do that’.
The Empty Vessel is profoundly important.
I believe it’s the song of Saint Francis of Assisi…who I just saw yesterday on a church…it’s his 800th anniversary this year…I always had some kind of affinity with him, it’s the animal thing.
But also his song, I can’t remember if it was ‘Make Me a Channel of Your Peace’, or ‘Make Me a Vessel of Your Peace’...I think it’s Channel.
But it’s really about being empty and allowing God, allowing the Tao, allowing Awareness to work through your mind and your body, while recognizing that you are Existing within Awareness, playing the great game…and that you are Awareness.
Sitting on this rock high in the jungle valley, close to cascade dos…no, way above cascade dos, close to cascade tres…I was thinking of how useful and wonderful that empty vessel role is.
A man of a thousand faces, any role can be played.
Yeah, it’s incredibly powerful, because when Awareness recognizes Awareness, and the body and mind can be empty, all constraints and concerns can fall away.
Time and space become less important…
With the recognition that I Am Nothing, And I Am Everything,
Everything is possible,
And Nothing is required,
To live in this ‘empty vessel’ state of Absolute Peace.
